My Personal Bio is as follows:
Duana Richell Heard was born in Detroit, Michigan and has studied computers since the age of nine using Texas Instruments, Apple IIE and Commodore 64 computers. For many years, Duana has also participated and competed in several typing state competitions ranking #1 with a typing speed average of 120-150 words per minute.
In August 1989, Duana relocated to Las Vegas and joined Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie Davis, where she currently serves as Director for the Youth/Young Adult Choir, former Choregrapher for the Junior Laymen Ministry, former Praise Dance & Step Team Choreographer, current Children's Church Musician, former member of the Young Women Mission Department, graduate of the Evangelism curriculum, and Webminister for the church website.
Duana is also very active in the community. She serves as the Internet Operations Specialist and Founding Board Member for the Caucus of African American Nevadans (CAAN – a Las Vegas Political Action Committee), Internet Operations Specialist for the GMWA (Gospel Music Workshop of America), which is a national organization founded by the late Rev. James Cleveland serving more than 75,000 members. Duana is also the webminister for the Las Vegas NAACP, 100 Black Men Las Vegas Chapter, Al Sharpton’s National Action Network Las Vegas Chapter, Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow Coalition Las Vegas Chapter Steering Committee, Nevada Fair Housing, and a host of small businesses and churches throughout Las Vegas. Also, the 1st Saturday of each month, Duana co-sponsors an “Impact Forum” with Lois E. Greene of The Business Liaison Group, which is dedicated to helping small businesses, churches and non-profit organizations to excel in their business endeavors.
Duana also serves as the Nevada regional representative for B.O.S.S. The Movement (an internationally acclaimed Youth Christian curriculum that teaches Las Vegas youth ages 7-19 how to be leaders, discipline principles, spirituality, punctuality, communication skills, and entrepreneurship - This curriculum is taught in 20-week phases and with quarterly Youth Spiritual Boot Camps).
Duana's community involvement also includes serving as Gospel Chairperson for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee, member of NAACP, Executive Administrator & Vice President of C-Me Productions, Inc., and a Youth Counselor for teens in the community.
Duana also has served three years as a Board Member for the Las Vegas Youth Mass Choir, two years as a Youth Music Instructor for the City of Las Vegas West Las Vegas Library Theater, and combined fifteen years of Executive experience serving as the Administrator at Alexis Park Hotel, Polo Towers/Jockey Club Hotel, Las Vegas Valley Water District Information Systems Division and Steve Wynn Enterprises.
Since 1991, Duana continues to serve the U.S. government, working for the United States Department of Energy/Defense on several contracts including Loral Aerospace, Bechtel Nevada and National Security Technologies.
In February 1998, Duana started her own business Smart Multimedia Services dba Get You a Website.com. She has created websites for small businesses, churches, gospel artists, and entertainers not only in the Las Vegas area, but across the United States.
Duana designed and maintains regional websites for national organizations such as the Million Family March, National United Church Usher Association of America, the National Action Network, just to name a few.
Duana also currently provides computer consulting for Harrahs Entertainment Procurement - Las Vegas, Nevada (Ballys Hotel, Caesars Palace, Paris Hotel, Rio Hotel, Harrahs Hotel, Bills)
Duana is the Founder of Churches in Las Vegas.com (http://www.churchesinlasvegas.com), established on January 2, 2001, a website dedicated to connecting churches in Las Vegas providing 24/7 access to Church Directory Listings, Citywide Community Calendar, Sermons on the Net by local Las Vegas Pastors, plus a list of valued resources for the community. Duana also hosts a bi-weekly radio show on Power 88 (FM 88.1) every 2nd & 4th Sunday at 2:30pm.
Duana also established http://www.24hourgospel.com (a nationwide Gospel website resource) and http://www.helpforyouth.com (a website dedicated to youth around the world & owned by her spiritual Godparents & Mentors Al ("Coach") & Hattie Hollingsworth/BOSS the Movement of Ontario, California).
Duana is a “born again” Christian and loves to serve God’s people. Duana’s goal is to continue to give her best in all that she does and let her “light” shine before men that they may see her good works and glorify God in heaven. |
